Major Robert (Bob) Barber, USMC, Retired
In Spring of 2025, Bob and Cara Barber established the Auburn University Marine Corps Scholarship Endowment to assist Marines and their families with education expenses. 1017Woodworks was formed to fully support this effort.
Major Barber was born and raised in Opelika, AL and graduated from Opelika High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in April of 1994. He enrolled at Auburn University in 1997 in the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP) graduating in 2000 with Bachelor’s degree in History. Additionally, he holds a Master’s degree from the University of San Diego’s School of Business. He retired from the Marine Corps in 2014 after serving more than twenty years.
He is married to the former Cara Leigh Hooks of Anniston, Alabama and has two children, Connor and Abigail. Cara has both a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Auburn University and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University.
